Our Approach
Tony Groom began turning around businesses in 1990 as a fee-earning “Company Doctor”: an independent director working with insolvency practitioners to manage the turnaround of insolvent companies. In 2001 he formed K2 Partners Ltd to build a team of “Turnaround Investors” who take equity alongside existing company directors to manage the turnaround of their companies. Our approach involves investing our time, expertise and money to become partners with the previous owners of private companies for mutual benefit from future success. Also unusually our companies are debt free and rarely sold.
We focus on investing in struggling companies with £3m-£20m turnover that have growth potential based on intangible assets that lenders and investors find difficult to value.

He is a Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP), a member of the European Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals, and a director and past President of the Turnaround Management Association UK.

- Mark Blayney MBA ACA is a chartered accountant specialising in the financial restructuring of SME businesses. Schehrezade Davidson holds an MBA from CASS Business School. Every partner's qualifications are listed in full on their own profile.
- What we have actually backed
- Four sectors, each with the businesses behind it: house building and construction products, technology providers with unique components, service companies built on intangible assets and industrial manufacturing.
- What we are not
- K2 is not a firm of licensed insolvency practitioners and does not take appointments as liquidator, administrator or receiver. We invest and work alongside directors before that point. Where we publish a company's Gazette insolvency notice, the office holder named in that notice is the person to contact about a claim — not us.
